Something that provides pleasure, a diversion, or amusement. The word entertainment is derived from the Medieval Latin intertenere, which means “to hold inside.” It is an apt name, considering that entertainments are something that can be enjoyed and enjoyed again.

Entertainment can be anything from reading a book or playing a video game to watching live performances such as dancing or comedy shows or attending art galleries and museums. It can also be eating a delicious meal or spending time with friends and family.

Psychologists say that entertainment is a necessary human activity. It stimulates the brain to release seratonin and dopamine, which makes us feel good. It is a way to escape the stresses of daily life, and it can even help us learn about the world around us.

Moreover, entertainers often hit on the points our minds were evolved to deeply react to — such as social backstabbing or murders. This may be because we are wired to respond to these things in order to survive and navigate the social world around us.
