It may include activities such as watching movies or television, listening to music, reading books and magazines, playing sports or games, or creating or appreciating visual art. Entertaiment is often intended to provide a distraction or escape from daily routine, work, or problems. It is sometimes controversial, as some forms of entertainment have been criticized for causing stress or depression in some people.
The word entertain comes from the Latin intertenere, meaning “to hold inside.” Its Indo-European root is ten, which means to stretch. Entertainment stimulates the brain to realease seratonin and dopamine.
